I thought members would like to know Fly Past have just published a base by base guide to US airpower in Britain entitled "Mighty Eighth". I bought my copy for £4.99 from Sainsbury's. It contains a wealth of photographs and information about the men, aeroplanes and airfields and is remarkably good value.
Hallo, If I may introduce myself. Middle Aged (ie pre WW2) with interests in WW2 organisation, structures , sites and logistics with an emphasis on radar, communications and transport and where relevant, pursued into the cold war. Not particularly dextrous, witness the space in my user name and not very computer able. I'm a long time member of ARG who has finally found the right buttons to push.
Welcome to AiX C alvo, as a long term ARG member you will find (have found!) that this forum supplements and complements the periodic Airfield Review publication. Do you have interest in any specific airfield or military structures?
I've just join this group my main interets are WW11 bomber command and its airfields. I am from a miitary background and study a lot as well. the main areas i may be able to help you with are Yorks, Lincs and Norfolk although i now reside in spain i do pop over to the UK now and again.
Thank you both for your welcome, Petertheeater, that's a difficult one to answer, basically my interest starts at the top with the buildings and sites of the direction of the war, the prime service HQ's, their admin and operational HQ's, for example with the RAF it is the Air Ministry, followed by Command, Group and Sector facilities, in fact anything that supports the fighting elements, I've made a particular study of radar sites from the be inning to date, still on a learning curve.
