Good morning all. My name is Sue and I am part of the above group. Have an interest in old airfields etc as we live in North Lincolnshire and are surrounded by them!
I sent an email to the Woodland Trust a coule of weeks ago regarding the plaque. I received an automated reply saying they would get back to me. Apparently they are pretty busy with some tree dieback disease at the moment.
Tony, I'm a member of a local volunteer group that helps maintain a WT woodland in Norfolk. The WT are very slow to respond to queries but they are usually very good at getting back to you eventually. Ash dieback has caused them a lot of problems, all our volunteer coppicing has been postponed until a strategy is developed to deal with the disease.
I'd suggest following up your email every couple of weeks with another, or even send an old-fashioned letter.
Just joined after reading the Heathrow thread. I live in Heston and have been photographing aircraft at LHR for years. I have recently become interested in the history of the airport and have been to see the old tower demolition virtually every day to record the event!
Thanks Alastair. I actually received an email from the WT just yesterday. They are shorthanded at the moment but indicated that they may have something for me in a week. Will let you know the outcome.
Hi LHR welcome to the forum plenty on here to interest you . Like you i have a love of Heathrow i first visited the airport way back in 1958 when you could have a silver service dinner in the Queens building . There used to be a model shop on the balcony where i bought a Revel B47Strato jet . Do you have the DVD on the history of Heathrow its brilliant . When we fly from Heathrow we always stay in the Hiliday Inn on Bath road & have room on the third floor so i get agood view of aircraft taking off & landing Magic.
Regards ,
Bomber .
