I thought some people might be interested to hear from as I was at Swinderby 1949- 1951. I went to Swinderby straight from RAF Wilmslow where I did my 'square bashing'. I joined the MT section as a learner driver and completed my training course and stayed at Swinderby for the whole period of my National Service.
The Squadron was 204 AFS flying Wellington's and later to be joined by 201 AFS from Brize Norton flying Mosquito's. 201 used Norton Disney as a satellite drome.
Not sure if any members of this website were at Swinderby during my time.
Cheers,

There are Swinderby experts here who would be interested in any photos you have, I would edit out your email address though, it could attract unwanted mail from other sources!
Hi to everyone. I didn't realise I was obsessed with airfields (and aircraft) until I retired. Having played on former RAF Leicester East late 1959 early 60's, it was only when more active bases suddenly started to disappear in the early 90's I really was glad of where I'd been and what I'd seen. Anyway, ended up here in windy Norfolk, and lived within a few miles of Sculthorpe last 9 years (the tower IS still there), and now on the edge of former RAF Docking. Pleased to find this site - hope to chip in now and again. This is a great find for me. Great photos, great threads, lovely.
Jes.
