The 'Introduce yourself' Thread

I'm Catherine, am interested in researching old airfields especially those that have connection with Major Glenn Miller.

At the moment though I'm in the middle of writing a complete history of RAF Elvington and am looking for any photographs of the area before it became a museum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The second book that I'm doing is about Glenn Miller but that is on hold at the moment while I am still researching, there is a lot of material to get through.

I am also interested in Aviation Archaeology. Best wishes.

Talking of third person - You must watch the latest Mitchell and Webb show on the BBC iPlayer. A brilliant sketch on third person conversation and an even better one on Mispronounciationisms. (Series 3 Episode 1)

There is also the book 'The War Diary of RAF Elvington' or something very similar by Mike Usherwood and published by Compaid Graphics at around £15 and worth a look although almost entirely made up of daily ORB copies and very little if any personal stories or illustrations .

Thank you for the link to the website afterthebattle, I will definitely check this out. The book RAF Elvington rings a bell with me for some reason, I might have seen it in their onsite shop but never really thought about it at the time. But will look into it more carefully now that my own book is nearly complete hopefully, everyone has been a great help to me thank you all I'm touched by your kindness.
