Hi , my name is Kathy and I am an aviation enthusiast also with a massive interest in preserving old airfields. I belong to the South West Heritage Trust which is a wonderful charity working to preserve Airfields used by the military in the South West , namely Culmhead,Dunkeswell and Upottery (smeatharpe). Having spent many, many hours discovering and exploring disused airfields I come across this group and became a member !:)

Hi Kitty, welcome to the forum!

I met Claude at the ARG AGM in May at Elvington, he is a really nice chap and was telling us about the South West Airfield Heritage Trust.

Cheers

Richard

Hi,
I'm a new member, I live in Galway, Ireland although I am a native of Coventry. My particular interest is Nth Luffenham Airfield in Leicestershire, which I intend to visit in early September about the time of the Duxford show.
The reason for my interest is that my fathers elder brother, Sgt Ernest Walter Temple, flew from there on his last mission on 19/8/42 as a Tail gunner aboard Lancaster R5663, shot down over the bay of Biscay. Does anyone know if there are any squadron photo's in any pub's etc in the area?
Mike

Welcome Kathy; why 'kitty'?

It's useful to have members with 'on-site' knowledge of their local airfields so I hope that you will be able to answer queries as they arise. Dunkeswell I know having been on the RAF Bomb Disposal team which cleared the bomb stores in 1966 ish.
