Hello John, a very warm welcome to AIX

Hi All.

First post here, so what do you want to know about me?

I'm in the RAF still, TG14 Photographer. I live half way between Waddington & Bardney in Lincolnshire so I'm surrounded by old airfields.

Currently work at RAF Scampton and have served at Wittering, Halton, Uxbridge and Coningsby before.

Probably should have more photos of these places than I have as I've seen a fair bit of history come and go at them and its my job!

I find it fascinating to see the history of these places. I spent two years living at Kirton-in Lindsey and now it's closed it has a draw it never had when it was open! Also find Bardney interesting as it's local and had a colourful history, but seems to have been largely ignored in the archives.

Welcome to AiX 80mojo; you are going to have to explain TG14 that I assume to be Trade Group 14? I left the RAF 43 years ago and things have changed!

Are you still using film cameras or has the service gone digital too?

Trade Group14 = the photographic and int trades.

Ex RAF found this site when i was looking up Orfordness as i was assisting the bomb disposal guys there back in the 70,s . I am a Self Employed HGV Driver working for several companies and have an interest in aviation and history. Always like to see pics and hear of things of place I was stationed at. look forward to looking around the forum. I have found the Orfordness bit very intersting.

Rich no i wasnt that mad i worked in MT and just assisted them, usually the one at the back with my fingers in my ears hehe.

Yep, TG14 is Trade Group 14. Includes whats left of the photo trade as well as some int and cartographers.

Seems there's a good few Lincolnshire residents around. Must be the old airfields encouraging us all!
