The 'Introduce yourself' Thread

I'm Darren, and I'm 42 and I have an interest in Military airfield vehicles from WW2 (especially those used by RAF Bomber Command). My local airfield is Rochester.

Welcome Darren, I only flew in to Rochester once, very strong crosswind and it had been raining too, not a pleasant experience!! Great part of the world though, I used to live in Sussex and there is loads to see in the south east.

Welcome to AiX Darren; you have probably found the threads covering military and commercial airfield vehicles. Rochester Airport is a tidy field and your other local airfields Gravesend, West Malling and Detling are all covered on AiX.

Just joined so I am feeling my way around slowly.I served as an RAF Police NCO, between 1970 and 1977.I was staioned at Binbrook 1971/2,Salalah 1972 between July and September,and Gutersloh late 1972 to 1976,ending up at St Athan.

The forum looks great,I am writing a book,and may need to ask permission for copyright.Does anyone know if this a problem? I know I need to acknowledge the source and would be very pleased to do so..

I look forward to swapping a few anecdotes with you.

Hi PNK, Thank you for your welcome.I think copyright is pretty much the same all over,but when you think about it,giving someone a mention in return for their kindness is a small price to pay,don't you think?I have access to shedloads of great stuff,and it offers a wealth of interesting information,which is very important ,especially if you are working on a project like mine.Apart from that it has brought me into contact with some really good people....Happy days :wink:

I've joined this site as not only am I an aviation enthusiast, but I've also seen posts relating to RAF Barnham, which is a site I'm very interested in, particularly the former nuclear storage element of it.

I've posted already on some of the forums, but if anyone has anything interesting about RAF Barnham's Top Site where the Blue Danube and Red Beard used to be stored, I'd be really interested.

I'm compiling this site at present rafbarnham-nss.weebly.com/ where I'm trying to knowledge capture to save it for future generations.
