If you want names of any of the guys in the pictures, I have a fairly good list of those involved. The visiting a/c in the pictures are RAAF P51 Mustang of 83 Sqn, USAF B26 Invader and P47 Thunderbolt. I'm not sure who the Corsair in the hangar belonged to, but it looks like it could be Australian navy.

Thanks for sharing those images that give a feel for what the base and its occupants were like.

The Corsair is in an 'all weather hangar' (lets everything in!)

hi guys found your site when trying to find out as much imformation as i can on 2 japanese airfields that were used by the occupation airforce in 1945

iwakuni and miho

look foreward to getting to know my way round here

jaffa:)

Miho is now a regional airport and JASDF base (IATA YGJ - ICAO RJOH) and its history and details are well documented on Wikipedia:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miho-Yonago_Airport

Iwakuni was where my Dad arrived in Japan on a Short Sunderland flying boat having been in transit from the UK for 20 days on Avro York from Lyneham to Luqa, Luqa to Baghdad, Baghdad to Mauripur, Mauripur to Negombo, Negombo to Changi. Then Dakota from Changi to Saigon, Saigon to Hong Kong, and finally Sunderland to Iwakuni.

Welcome to AiX Coachman. We have some members familiar with Llandow. Can you indicate the building from which you worked using (say) Flashearth or similar.

Welcome to the forum Sidney. I was aware of the various beams that the Germans used and that we used various methods to prevent them being effective but nothing in detail. Thanks for posting your memories on the forum.
