Thank you Pauline, in due course I most definitely will be asking lot's of questions. As long as I've lived here in Lincolnshire I'm still learning lots of new things.
A nice coincidence, my great great great grandfather owned and ran a ship on the River Trent called the Industry.
My wife and I visited Wickenby for the first time recently, and like yourself I am interested in all our old airfields histories. So many though to wade through!

The large arched reinforced E type aircraft sheds make a good old echo! Wiltshire and Gloucestershire have them at Hullavington, Aston Down, & Kemble, and if you wonder into S.Wales St Athan has E types
The similar, but metal constructed L sheds appear at the above plus Wroughton & Lyneham.
I don't know the status of many of these hangars (ie empty or full) or how to arrange any possible access , though may be able to help with very basic enquiries for Hullavington and St Athan.

This is my first post, my interests are Hants and Wilts early airfields. Particularly Chattis Hill No. 1 from WW1.
I served at Halton, Boscombe Down, Scampton, Thorney Island, Upavon, during the 50's and 6o's as well as overseas. Lots of a/c types. Vulcan,Beverley Hastings,Argosy. Canberra b(i)8,Pembroke,Anson and Chipmunk and others.
Also interest in Ju88 shot down by Bob Doe at kings Somborne in WW2.

I pass Chattis Hill every week on my way to/from Boscombe Down where I still practice the art of Riggering !!

There is a dome teacher at Shoreham Airport but not sure who owns it etc !

The hangars at Kemble or Aston Down are probably the best bet as neither have any military presence and access is more likely to be permitted. I am not sure whether any of them are empty but it is worth enquiring.

Not WW2 buildings as such but what about the ex munitions storage caverns at either Chilmark or Corsham in Wiltshire?
