... I work at RAF Croughton...

An interesting place!

Don't suppose there's anyone there who will remember what Post #2 was all about :confused:.

Welcome Nic

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite :twisted:

I'm local to Charmy Down and interested to know more about the service history of the airfield beyond the overview stuff found on most sites. Any details, maps or pictures would be most welcome.

An interesting airfield with lots left to see. Many fighter 'E' pens, the Battle Headquarters, Control Tower (Watch Office), Shooting-in Butt, Pillboxes etc.

One of the few airfields for which I have been unable to locate any form of ammunition storage.

Actual service history is out of my expertise but I'm sure our AiX members will be able to give you some pointers.

Some more info:
RAF Laarbruch, was my first field!
Right around the corner, the choice was easy.

In 2008 started with airplane spotting, again.
With Airport Weeze, former RAF Laarbruch, now taking some pictures

Earlier, in my younger years, i often went with binoculars, near the field. Because of the many active sports activities ( soccer and long distance running), this hobby came to a standstill.

So back again, a few years...
With interest for, the old
And " The Loop area ", low flying :-D

Traveled to;
* the Cold War Jets-Team open day at Brunthingthorpe on May 3rd 2009.
* Brunthingthorpe, Lightning 21st Anniversary Day, 2009
* RAF Cosford Air Show, with the Vulcan in 2009 back again in 2010 (rain)
* Ramstein, Bitburg, Frankfurt-Hahn
* Vulcan fan :-o did a report on the Vulcan in Volkel, in 2009.

And many more plans...
Ruud
