Welcome kerbgrinder, are you still maintaining your photographic interest after your RAF professional life? I was a keen amateur in the '60s and got sucked into being a 'back-up' RAF photographer. Two years of professional involvement almost made me lay aside my camera!
I spent a couple of years at Leeming with the RAF late '60s and had enough interest to walk the local disused airfields such as Croft, Scorton, Dalton and Skipton. Much easier access in those days and more to see.
hi all, I'm Mike, live in cornwall, mostly interested in history of RAF Portreath but Predannack has been a favourite aswell. I haven't been able to find much in the way of old images (WW2 era) of Portreath, stumbled across some gold here on AIE so thought I'd join up. I really like the archeology of airfields, and visit Portreath whenever possible. I have found some old concrete bases, buildings that are now demolished and hidden in woodland, and what i suspect to be an old hangar (found a door with rusted bolt and hinges). Nice to see some people who can relate to what I'm on about without me getting funny looks Thats about it, thanks for the opportunity
Welcome to the forum. Predannack started out as a simple airfield with but then got attacked by the loop hardstands to make it the layout you see today.

Airfields can be deceptive enemies, their allure can suck you in and turn your life upside down. Their potted histories will drown you in a morbid fascination to find out all you can about every concrete hut base you come across. The remains of runways and peri-tracks will entice you into a world of mystery and intrigue....Unless you are as well balanced as me!

My name is Daniel Jackson and I work for a company called Lafarge.
I hope to support the Airfield Research Group both personally and professionally. I hope to provide information or assistance; no doubt I will be asking for the favour to be returned!
Now the commercial bit - Lafarge provides airfield pavement solutions and has extensive experience in airside and landside projects at many of the UK's leading regional, international and military projects.
Personally, I'm a keen photographer so look forward to joining any 'planned' days out to bases. I also hope to have a few trial flights in 2011 - Look out if any of you are up there at the same time!
Great to have you on board - any chance of a few words and photos of LaFarge in action on a runway project? It would make an interesting piece for the CMS section of the website.
