Hi Mike T, I must admit that I've only been around North Luffenham about twice, and that was a few years ago. Went looking for any kind of memorial, couldn't find one. As for the local pubs,one or two may well have some wartime photographs on the walls. I'll see what I can find-out in the next week or so....holiday time
Welcome to the forum Mike. I don't know about North Luffenham pubs but more recent visits to old haunts have been less than satisfying. They seem to have dispensed with old local related photos that once adorned the walls or have turned into Harvesters/McDonalds etc.
I fear when I retire the phrase going down to the pub will need a slight change in inflection to say "going down to THE pub" (meaning the only pub)!
Thank goodness you can still buy real ale in Sainsbury!
Now that would be an idea, buy up an old pub and do it up as a wartime replica! Nurse!!

The reason that I have registered on the site is that my late uncle ,Ronald Hanson ,was also a Chartered Engineer and during the war he was Resident
Engineer for the construction of the runways at Valley RAF Station also Ford and Thorney Island.
He passed on to me acollection of original construction drawings, specifications, and work description for the runway works.
Is anyone interested in this information ?
