Hi People,

Google has led me here to your very excellent... if a little daunting forum. I need some help and advice please.

I am a professional photographer, and University student all rolled into one. I am, as part of a University Project, looking for high quality digital scans of East Anglian Airfields during the Second World War. I want then to return to the same spot that WW II photograph was taken, then using a medium format film camera take the "same" picture. The plan is essentially to have a before and after image making a statement about time and change, and the dynamic interaction between natural and cultural forces in the environment. I know it sounds very academic and pretentious, but that stuff happens at University.

I assume my first port of call is the National Archives down in London, but maybe there is a better place that holds archive negatives that can be, or have been scanned? The resources of this site I have only just begun to dig into... this thread /community/forumdisplay.php?169-Museums-and-Archives being of great help as a starter.

Any advice at all would be much appreciated.

This company ; www.wessexarch.co.uk/ have undertaken extensive research into aircraft crash sites off the south east coast and I'm pretty sure they were involved in the Dornier Do17 recovery from the Goodwin Sands and may possibly be able to help ?

Our own ARG archive has a huge amount of material in, so perhaps we will be able to help you?

Hello from the Island, glad to have found this forum. Have had a lifelong connection with aviation both civil and military, so plenty here of interest.

Curious looking at your IW section - nothing shown in the West Wight. Anyone know of any history there? I seem to remember there was a farm strip at Bouldner in the seventies, and a hangar-like structure somewhere behind the New Inn at Shalfleet. Any other info would be good.

I too have the above mentioned book, and it's a very good read. Don't know if there are many still around, I have never seen one at any of the second-hand book shops that I've called at.
