Sadly no, not really. The closest I got to it was working in contact with the Britten Norman Hovercraft division (Cushioncraft) for a short while in the mid-to-late sixties!

Hovercraft, noisy but practical so liked by the US Military too.

The hangar like structure "behind" the New Inn in Shalfleet; was it this structure off Mill Lane?

Very interesting, thank you. Particularly liked the refuelling picture from Ventnor 1911!

Think you're right, long time since I've looked up there, obviously wishful thinking on my part! Thanks.

Hi Christine.
I started work at Llanbedr in 1957. At that time Nick Carter was indeed the manager, he had an office in a building that was also the pilots crew room. I was also a flight observer in Fireflies and my flying log was oversigned by him.
In 1962 I lived in a house that belonged to Short Bros and Harland, the house had been divided into four flats. We occupied one of the two on the second floor, the other was occupied by Eric Ainsworth and his family. The ground floor flat was occupied by Nick and his family. At that time Nick was a keen gardener and tended a plot belonging to the property that was on the opposite side of the road that ran past the now derelict St Davids Hotel. I recall the Green Standard Vanguard Estate that he drove, RGX 477. I know that he moved to the house named Ardudwy in Llanbedr, this house previously belonged to the owner of the Victoria Hotel. I trust this is of value in your quest.

Welcome to AiX SVR2.

Do you (did you) have any connection with Saunders Roe or Norman Britten?

Fascinating - I knew he had been born there, nice to see a picture; two v good books on Saunders-Roe, 'From River to Sea' and 'From Sea to Air' tell the story.
Sadly I think the old Saro site behind the Folly on the Medina here has just this week been given Planning permission for development into 'luxury housing'.
Might try and shoot down there tomorrow and see what, if anything, I can photograph if the site hasn't already been cleared.
