I believe that the Dunholme lodge land owner is keen to start a Heritage room in memory of all those that served. He plans to have events soon. Maybe this would be a good time to visit. I will speak to some I know that helps at the site and come back to you.

Many thanks Woody, it would be appreciated. BEST WISHES. Kenny

I would love to take my mother in law back to the old site, just for her to reminiccse, could anybody please give me any information on a hotel around the area and places that I could take her regarding the old 44 squadron.

With the link you mention to 617, you probably won't do better for a hotel than the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa which has much memorabilia in one of the bars and many paintings, assuming it is in your price range of course. Its about 25 miles from Dunholme but is central for visits to BBMF at coningsby or Just Jane at East Kirkby

Please see the following threads as well for useful info

AHL 2013 brochure

Visiting Lincolnshire

hope this helps

Many Thanks Kevin,
I will wait and see what other information comes to me. Just as a Footnote we have the Christmas dinner Menu from The Sergeants Mess at Dunholme Lodge signed by lots of the crews approx. 40 signatures dated 26th December 1943.

I am here researching life on the Isle of Man during WWI. Does anyone have any information about the physical culture on the island during this time?

I found this website for a link to the RAF Worksop website. My main research area is for North Notts & South Yorks airfields.

I am also a member of the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum.

I served for 12 years in the RAF initially as an AATC at Wattisham, but then became a Mover at Brize Norton.

Regards Rad;)

Probably my best was being at Wattisham when the Battle of Britain 50th flypast was organised from there- never again would I see so many Phantoms on one dispersal.
