The 'Introduce yourself' Thread

Hi there, Just recently joined the site, came across it whilst looking for info on RAF Leicester East.
Im hoping someone can point me in the right direction in acquiring a layout of the original base which would show where the original buildings etc would have been.

Even more unusual, in St Andrew's church near RAF Little Snoring there is a Victory board comemorating the shooting down of enemy aircraft (can be seen here ). I find that particular board leaves me feeling a little uneasy - as it's less a memorial to loss and more a celebration of death.

G, day mudcake, what are your airfield/aviation interests?

I'm mainly interested in WW2 US airfields in Britain and anti invasion defences. I'm no expert, just enjoy the combination of walking in the English countryside and exploring the past, not to mention all the military museums.
Thorpe Abbotts is my favorite. It was the first place I ever explored and there's something about the place that keeps bringing me back.

I am looking into my family history and wish to research the plane crash in which my uncle was killed. His name was Barry Morgan. He qualified as a service pilot in 1948 and after service in Malta he signed on again to train as an instructor but was killed in a training accident on 4/2/1953 at Little Rissington. Has anyone any idea where I will be able to find out more. I do have copies of letters sent to my aunt at the time but cannot seem to get any official information or reports.
