Hi

My name is Graham Thrussell, my interest is the 381st BG at Ridgewell and has been for many years, i lived at Ashen on the edge of the Airfield and spent many hours exploring it! I have a WW2 Jeep marked up as 381st BG 532nd Squadron. I have just started a Face Book page where i would like people to share anything 381st/Ridgewell related, memories, stories, photos, finds etc. I look forward to posting on here , Thanks

You will know of course that Kirmington is now Humberside Airport
There is a plaque inside the terminal building

My view of the scan tells me, there have been 28 different viewers of my message.

Isn't anybody able to give an opinion, as to any detail about these type of tags ??

I followed a Google link, that suggested the 433rd. Signal was mentioned 'somewhere' on this Forum ( which is why I posted my enquiry here ).

Does anybody know of one of your Members here, who 'may' be a source of knowledge, whom I could contact ?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I can't find any direct reference to a "433rd Signal" on the forum I'm afraid.

There is a possibility that, if it is of US origin, it may refer to the 433rd Signal (Heavy) Construction Battalion (Aviation), which was assigned to the USAAF 7th Air Force in the pacific during WWII. US Army 2 1/2 ton to 5 ton trucks up to mid-1944 carried W-4xxxxx registration numbers, so it may simply be a key tag.

Thanks for that.

That's the most likely scenario I have.

I will pass the likely scenario onto the owner family of the tag.

They were thinking it represented some type of 'service' in an 'Air Raid Warden' capacity - but there doesn't seem to be any evidence of this.

Good evening. I have joined the forum because I have a general interest in WW2 and also wish to learn more about the wartime activity in my area. I am developing a sense of curiosity about the aircraft crashes that took place in the hills near my part of the world. I own a 1943 AEC matador, although it is restored as a civilian recovery truck rather than an artillery tractor.
