Welcome John, it'd be great if you could keep us up to date with the goings on at Ashburton and any other local fields. There is a section in the overseas airfields part of the forum for New Zealand airfields.

We had an article on Te Perita in Airfield Review a year or so back, I have still got an article on Ashburton that Eric Drewitt sent me to go in the magazine, hopefully I will get it in early next year.

Welcome to AiX!

I am a retired BA FAA pilot. My book "From Supermarine Seafire to DC10" has just been published on Amazon. Publishers title, not mine. I wanted Captain Speaking but you dont argue with your first publisher.

Am researching for a history of the Air Training Corps and need to confirm that Beaufighters were used for Cadet air famil at Dungavel Airfield. Have exhausted all the usual and obvious channels. Have run into fog. Is Dungavel info secret because of the Hess thing?

Welcome to the forum Rstormview. I'm not sure about Dungavel being secret, I suspect it's another location that wasn't important enough to keep records for. It might be worth approacing the current owners of Dungavel House to see if they have any records.

In your time as a FAA pilot did you ever use any of the ranges?

Hello Trudy. Sq.Ldr. Hamilton Ellliott Hervey [always known as 'Tim' by the family and others] is my Great Uncle, my Grandfather's elder brother! We do have a copy of Cage Birds and also many of his beautiful miniatures but I would indeed love to know more about the book which you have and in particular the letter from him. Both his daughters [my first cousins] would love to have this memento of their dear papa. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Nicola
