Sorry to learn of your issues with the IWM, but it does happen due to their extremely high costs. I was on the cusp of commissioning one of their own staff, but we had to kill the book as the IWM wanted around £4,000 for images. That being said, I am resources and have contacts. Why not send me an e-mail so that we can chew the fat?

Looking up info on Boxted USAF base near Colchester in Essex UK. Quite a lot available about the great Bomber & Fighter groups there not so much about the RAF from 1945-46-7 (last bit shorter). Night Fighter Mossys & Meteors were training and waiting for new Runway to be laid when they cancelled it and put in on C&M in November 47. Looking for photos of wartime buildings mostly gone or any post war flying there crop spraying etc. Thanks for looking.

The current satellite imagery (Google Earth) shows a number of extant buildings in the former bomb store. These appear to be Nissen type Incendiary Bomb Stores and Fuzing Point sheds. I note the imagery is dated 2006.

Quite a few WW2 buildings, including a Blister Hangar can be viewed via Steet View in the former Technical Site off Lodge Lane. Shouldn't be too diffcult to get approved access.

Not a lot else due to agricultural reclamation.

Hi. My Dad recently passed away and we have been looking back on his life. Although he was too young to go to war in 1943 he started in High River Alberta training to be a pilot. From there he was at Trenton, St.Jean PQ and lastly at Crumlin 4 A.O.S. We have his log book and some photos, a crest etc. but very little knowledge. He rarely spoke of his time there and we never realized how much was involved nor how dangerous that period of his life was. I'm looking for information or direction to resources so we may pass along his legacy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I would appreciate any assistance you may give me. Too often we look forward and forget to look back.
I also would like any information on the attached photo.

The BCATP museum in Brandon is a good source of information about your fathers service life in terms of the places he served.. Vintage wings of Canada also have some interesting material. the Brandon museums link id. www.airmuseum.ca/ They may be able to help with that immaculate patch. Was your father Canadian?

RAF Crumlin is better known as RAF Aldergrove and continued in use as an active RAF airfield long after the end of WW2.
