hi everyone, i have just joined today 57 yrs after i joined the mob,
done square bashing at padgate signed on there for 3yrs and sent to compton about april/may 1955 for teleprinter op training and then posted off to leeming in north yorkshire where i spent
most of my time apart two days at northweald and three months at raf warton where the auxilliaries spent their two weeks camp. oh what a happy lot they were, i had two incoming message each day for five days a week and never sent one in three months spent most of time
serving tea in the mess.
demobbed from leeming in march 1958 and joined the cable and wireless which then became b.t
as an international telegraphist 1st grade so i got something out of my experiences and had that job for 25yrs. i was widowed 14yrs ago but now in a relationship with a fine lady and she
can cook so better than i can.
if you knew me from those days i would be delighted to hear from you.

Welcome to AiX leemingboy, how did you manage to stay at one base for most of your service career? I was at Leeming 1968 until very early 1970 when I left the RAF.

Do you have any old photographs that you can share with us?

Hello Michael, welcome to AiX.

I was a member of the RAF Bomb Disposal team that carried out the clearance of the former bomb stores in 1964. We commuted daily from RAF Debden and took 'lunch' in a pub in nearby Stoke by Clare. We recovered quite a lot of munitions items especially US pattern Bomb Fuzes many from the bottom of a drainage ditch that ran alongside the road running past the Fuzing Point sheds.

Hi,
Ive just started to look into the airfeilds around me, im based in Bognor Regis, so i have Tangemere, Ford, Goodwood, Shoreham (west Hamptnet) all in close proximity.
I am a memebr of a WII re-enactment group based around the SOE so Tangemere and Ford are very handy.

One project that im working on for myself is, to make replica airfields of the south coast (1940's) for Flight Simulator FSX, so getting info on the runways and fields will be essential.

Our group (The Baker Street Boys) had the good fortune this year of being allowed on the Airfield for Goodwood revival, we actually got Spitifired out by the end of the weekend.
Any will speak to you guys soon.

i only have a couple of photos of those days mostly the lads from our section shq sigs and pbx boys, sadly didnt attach

i met him thru forces reunited and so many things had changed even by then.
if i dig the pics out and find out how to get them onto this site will post them thanks your reply

did you ever get across to the isle of man, outside ronaldsway airport towards castletown theres a small aircraft museum
opened about 12 yrs ago or so by two lads showing relics recovered from the irish sea round the island,, havent been for a while but they were growing and more exhibts being shown.
on my list visit he came in with "an old something that someone just gave me" but i dont know what it is but it will do for
the kids to play with, until i told him what he had was an "old gp set" namely the tx1155 radio transmitter and someone else
found a handbook with instructions he now has it on show
