Yes, I was in a basha, on stilts about 4 feet high. Held 40 or 50 men - wide doorways on ends and sides but no doors - about 12 windows but no glass, just crisscrossed barbed wire.
No termites in the workshop - all steel nothing for them to eat. Just had various creepy crawlies and an occasional snake.
At Labuan mid 60's as part of the ex -UK reinforcements for the Indonesian Confrontation (how diplomatic!) we were accomodated in the Dyak longhouse version same construction you describe but windows wide open. Beats the Temporary Brick!

Question for you though, I was over you way last year and went searching for the memorial to Wellington III BK433 of 12 OTU that you show on your site. Is the memorial still there as I couldn't find it in the woods?
