Yes welcome Mike.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

..wait until Graham finds it and posts the link :)

Struggling a bit these days Peter. I'm on the point of posting a nag on the 'Search' facility.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Hello Mike, by chance I was re-reading the Hornchurch entry in the 'Battle of Britain Then and Now' book and took a look on satellite imagery to see what's left. There was a practice bombing range on the SE side of the airfield in the prewar and very early war which was used also by non-resident squadrons. Sad to see that development has eaten most of the airfield.

I'm Graham and I have joined this site as I have an interest in aviation of all types and in particular anything to do with the war years.

I love old airfields and the sites of old airfields and having spent my youth in the military, I have been to a number over the years.

One of my postings was to London and I lived 20 minutes walk from RAF Hendon, what a great place to live, I was at the museum almost every weekend.

I now live near Rochester Airport and regularly go there for breakfast and to watch the activity. I regularly visit the Medway Aircraft Preservation workshop, where they are currently rebuilding the Boulton Paul Defiant formerly on display at Hendon.

Welcome Graham, we have a number of AiX members in Kent so you are in good company; still plenty of WW2 relics to be found.
