Shows that the target was only just visible above the earth bank crossing from right to left although I suspect that the direction of travel was reversed randomly to prevent circuit fixation.

EDIT: Zooming the image shows what is, probably, the Target Trolley building which was reinforced concrete protected by earth banking and must have routinely been hit.

Dumfries 200 Yard Moving Target Range

The National Library of Scotland has recently introduced a 2019/2020 LIDAR layer to their map series covering parts of Scotland only.

The remains of the Dumfries inland MTR (unique) can be seen here adjacent to Barlouth:

Go east south east from runway end and cross the road. Straight track there. Recall seeing smal rail lines there many years ago

Do not be fooled by road on map to Barluith. I went that way once. Never again by car. Potholes ? More like tank traps. Even met a taxi up there looking for Torthorwald. How we got up and back without serious damage I will never know!

Powfoot and Eastriggs munitions factories were over 14 miles from Dumfries.....
