According to PNKs research, there were two ranges at Hell's Mouth an A and a B. The A had an off shore practice bombing target and an on-shore Air to Ground gunnery range and the B had an off shore live bombing target. Since one of two QS was usually adjacent to the Directional Arrow the second QS would (in my opinion) been located on Mygydd Cilan peninsula around here:

wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=5...2363&gz=15&oz=8>=1

For the A range (PB) the building seen here:

maps.google.co.uk/?ll=52.821817,-4.61802...bp=12,180.1,,0,11.63

.......is in a good location. The Street View image just seen through a gap in the trees resembles a tractor cab but, for my money, it is a QS.

But, where was the PB target? Knowing that would enable the location of the second QS but it has probably succumbed to coastal erosion.

This is the Hells Mouth range (Also lumped in with Penrhos ranges on some charts). I don't appear to have a full chart or map of the ranges here, despite thinking I did. Most charts only show the overall danger area which included air to air firing tow lines. The quadrant by the arrow would have served both the live range and a practice range to the SE. Strangely the aerial photo of the area from 1946, in Ivor Jones' book, only shows a live arrow so possibly the practice range didn't have an arrow at that quadrant.

A likely location, in the area PTE pointed out is below but I fear my mind is playing tricks on me as I see arrows everywhere!

If you plot the points from both the live arrow area (the red one) and my phantom arrow the 1000yds radius for a standard practice range tucks in nicely, just touching the beach.

I'm getting a bit confused about these two arrows. Guess the Hells Mouth entries need moving to an appropriate thread.
The RSP shows one of them. I found this one a decade ago when it was beginning to fall onto the beach. Location

'A' seems to be something to do with the landing strip boundaries.
What are 'B' and 'C' ?

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

I will split out the Hell Mouth Bombing Range in the next day or so.

RE: Carnaby's "B" & "C" - "B" was the officers control post and "C" was the W/T room and searchlight platform. Would that be a typical symbol for W/T? . Missing from the arrow is the little triangle at its base to signify "LIVE" targets.

Ian, Hopefully the attached map will make things a little clearer. The target locations may be a bit off but certainly within the right area (+/- 25yds). The building in the picture above does not fit in with the range as it is too far away. It may be a Coastal Observation or Lookout point. The Punt Gwynedd structure is the main markers shelter and is to do with the air to ground range. Once the Hell Mouth Range stuff has been split out I will try to draw up the layout of the air to ground part.

Some very interesting new info has come to light this weekend, primarily on the Snettisham range.

Apologies for the wonkiness, I had to stitch it together from six frames of poor-quality microfilm.
However, amongst other things it would seem to confirm Theddlethorpe was the first of the type.

All the best,
PB
