Ooops! To the forum member who sent me a PM about my login name being similar to a Gary Numan chant, so sorry; deleted your message by mistake. To be honest, didn't know it was a Gary Numan chant at his concerts. In the 80s I was into Iron Maiden, not synth pop. Our names are similar but spelt differently. I don't own a Harvard, although it'd be nice and I reckon I'd have as much fun as he does with it!

My name is "Skip" Maag. I live near Cleveland Ohio in the States
My father was a B-17 pilot in the 94th Bomb Group at Bury St. Edmunds in June though August 1944. My father passed away a few years back, but he went to several reunions at Bury St. Edmunds when he was alive, and he always mentioned how WONDERFUL his English hosts were, both in 1944 as well as during his visits later.
I hope someday to take a trip over the pond to visit, but in the interim, I was delighted to find such a wonderful website which has so many great photographs of all the airfields we are so fond of. Thanks so very much for putting this together, and I am looking forward to meeting you all.
(BTW, as you all know....the pilot of the plane was known as the "skipper" of the plane. When I was born, my parents nicknamed me the "little skipper"..and the name stuck!)
Welcome to the Forum Skip. If and when you visit the UK you will find much of interest remaining of the 8th USAAF in Suffolk.Although there is not much left of the airfield at Bury (the Control Tower was still there when I last visited) ,one or two others are very atmospheric, particularly Lavenham and the not too far distant Tibenham in Norfolk
