Hello again norwichpaul. Found a URL that features a feast of aviation including Prestwick Airport. When you input URL, window pops up entitled Neil's Nostalgia and gives a story about Wilf which is worth a read. Along the top there is a list of Airfields all of interest which you will probably peruse. Click on Prestwick which is first one on the left and this opens another window with various headings. Ken Marshall,Gordon Reid, and Gordon Macadie Images feature Prestwick. I know Gordon Macadie and his photos are very good. Ken Marshall when you click on him has 6 sections. Also other airfields have good material too. I used to be in the Royal Observer Corps and attended camps at RAF Watton and used to go to the Flying Fish in Carbrooke. We went into Norwich one day to Old Catton where we had a big control HQ installation partly underground. I remember going through a place i think called Hingham where there was a garage with lots of Volkswagen Beetles outside. Also a pub near Watton near the prison that had about 5 bars one after the other in a line with very low ceilings. Enjoy photos and let me know that you have received this ok. The URL is :-

Welcome Cloudpuncher and looking forward to your T.I memories. My first visits there were to a couple of Battle of Britain displays back in the mid 50s.

Just joined the ARG and signed up to the forum today. I have lived in Norfolk for almost 17 years but come originally from the South West of Scotland (please don't hold that against me ). I have been interested in, and involved with, aviation all my adult life. One of my main hobbies is photography and I have taken thousands of pictures of aircraft over the last 30 years. Although I have been aware of many of the former WWII airfields in East Anglia for quite some time I recently decided to take a more active interest in their history and to try to visit and photograph some of them. I have already found this Forum a valuable source of information and I hope I can occasionally contribute something in the future.

Nothing wrong with that area: Wicker Man filming - Nerve gas at Stranraer - Moving Target Ranges at Wigtown and Dumfries - Explosives factories at Ardeer and Gretna (Moorside). A wonderful part of the UK and one I haven't really visited - it's near the top of my list for the next year or two.

Ah - one problem - passed through Dumfries & Galloway several years ago after a lightning tour of Scottish militaria with Norwich Paul. We fancied a decent meal on the last night so ventured into Dumfries centre. Big mistake - 90 minutes later we were at a Little Chef on the outskirts.
