Absolutely interesting John. I wish we had a collection like that in the archives, I think we have one cloth patch
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Hi everyone,

My name is Jerome I live just outside Hereford

I’m interested in WW2 stuff, currently doing some research about an American B-24 that crashed in Burghill, Hereforshire.

Welcome Jerome, only two military airfields were in Herefordshire during WW2, Madley and Shobdon both have remains. Then there is the former RAF recruit training centre (non-airfield) at Hereford and the sites of the former Filling Factory and Royal Ordnance Factory with a lot to be seen.

Are crash sites your main interest?

Is there a memorial to the airmen who lost their lives while flying out of Leconfield in WW2? Ifso, I would like to know where it is. Thanks.
