I'm Cliff Stone from not-so-sunny (today) Southend.
Introduced to the site by a workmate who is ex RAF.
Main interest through the years has been anything that flies, up to early jets, not so much modern jets and a big interest in the 8th and 9th Airforce.
Involved in my younger years with the Historic Aircraft Museum at Southend, then with a Stan and Dave Brett connection to Duxford, Andrewsfield and finally Earls Colne, produced the newsletter for some years for the Rebel Air Museum.
Spent many happy hours on the old airfields of East Anglia (my cars have been more at home on runways than roads).
Big birthday this year so planning a Mustang flight with Stallion 51 in Florida, can't fly a Spitfire so happy to settle for second best!
Noticed a few folk on here local or with a Rebel Air Museum connection so please say hello.
Hello,
Received an invite to come here so thought I would say hello.
I'm involved in searching for new structures for our replica camp near Evesham in Worcestershire.
We represent the South Midlands Area of the Military Vehicle Trust but very lucky in that we have a very unique clubhouse where Bob the landowner has developed a camp.
Most of the structures come for airfields and farms in the local area and so far we have salvaged/built:
2 Anderson shelters
1 Consol shelter
1 Morrison shelter
1 Stanton Shelter (all 20tons of it) and re-buried it, from RAF Honeybourne Airfield
8 Nissen huts
1 Picket Hamiltom Fort from Southend airport near London
1 Searchlight trailer for 150cm light, found in the long grass at Long Marston Airfield
1 Alan Williams Turret, awaiting delivery
1 Guard shelter from Digless locks Worcester
3 Railway carriages to house displays, from Long Marston Airfield
So if you know of any other structures that are in need of a new home or threatened with demolition then please let me know. Prefer Midlands area & dependant on costs/logistics.
Its good to see Bob is progressing well and that everyone doing an excellent job, with any luck we my run a group from the motorcycle club down to you for the August event ( guys and their toys!)....
It looks like I have client that's bought a Tatra 813 to put back to milspec after a recent career in the hospitality business... another HMV returns to the fold.
