I happened to stumble across this site today and can't believe I have found a site dedicated to airfield histories My wife thinks I am mad looking at aerial photos and reading about airfields and now I have found some like minded people.
I did spend five years in the RAF and only got to see a few stations but its really the cold war period that I am most interested in.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
I like to concentrate mainly on the RAFs role and RAFG, and also the USAF in the UK and Europe, but I will read anything on the subject. My grandfather served in the RAF for 35 years and left in 1974, during this period worked on Victors, Vulcans, canberra's and Hunters, so I suppose his stories ignited my interest in that era.
