This is my first post on this most informative and interesting forum, found by accident whilst surfing the net.
I am staying at a holiday cottage for a few days, and whilst looking at its position on GE, find it is only about 50 yds from the end of the old runway at RAF Melton Mowbray. This prompted me to do a little research as I had not heard of it before, and this led me to finding this forum.
I have always been interested in all things RAF and the like, ever since I can remember. I live in Waltham, very close to RAF Grimsby, and as somebody else has posted elsewhere, learnt to drive a car on there many years ago.
I once worked for a very short time at a factory on Lancaster Approach at North Killingholme, on the old airfield.
Again living in Lincolnshire I am close to loads of now non-active airfields, and have visited a good few of them.
I also have the privilege of being able to access a fair few active stataions as my son, and son in law are both serving RAF members. Indeed my daughter was also serving until she started a family.
Between the three of them have served at Halton, Benson, Waddington, Coningsby, Stafford, Lossiemouth, Marham, Wittering, Leuchars, Wittering, High Wycombe, Honington, and Brunnsum in Germany. The two lads have also done tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Falklands.
I am an active member of the LLA (Lincolnshire Lancaster Association), and a couple of years ago was treated to a ride aboard Just Jane at East Kirkby.
I am also an xBox live member (yes even at 53 yrs old !!) and my gamertag is LancL0ver.

Well I've bored you all enough guys, keep up the good work.

Hi Wilko, Well you certainly live in the right place for your interest. We were just talking about Lincolnshire at work, what a nice county it is despite the airfields. Haven't been there for eight months now and I am getting withdrawl symptoms  as I used to go once a week for fifteen years til the job stopped. Glad that you've found us anyway, plenty on here to keep you going.

Welcome to the forum wilko42. Don't worry about the gaming thing as I play Call of Duty online, though less frequently these days and I'm 55 (I think!).
