Ah...magic days. Never likely to be seen again, unfortunately..
My family looked forward to those glorious three days every year...
Glad you enjoyed looking at them. I don't think we'll ever see the Air Fete again either for so many reasons. It wouldn't be up to the old standard even if was still being held. The big Military airshows really do struggle these days due to budgets, dwindling aircraft numbers & air force commitments & the Air Fete's line up would suffer just like the others. Even if it was still being ran in this day and age, last years event & this years would have been cancelled anyway as the USAF aren't even supporting their airshows or military events in the States let alone in the UK or Europe at present. I'm not even sure if the new layout of the airbase would be ideal for a massive show like the Air Fetes of old. Much of the area where the cars used to be parked on has now been built on as well.
Some photos from the Culdrose Air Day back in 1983 when many of the aircraft displayed and their crews had seen service in the Falklands the year before.

Nice. I'd moved away from Cornwall by 1983 but managed to get to St Mawgan Air Day that year.
I seem to recall that 83 was the year of the Beaver crash at Culdrose.
