Lovely evocative shots Chris, I used to love the arrivals day evenings, they always seemed to be calm and sunny with no access restrictions to the aircraft.
The German Starfighters look more missile like than normal without the wing tip tanks, they must have been almost fuel priority on arrival!
Great to see such terrific memories; I went to my first UK airshow around the time these were taken. The ones of the Bf 109G were taken some time in the early - mid 90s at Duxford, since Black 6 first flew after restoration in 1991. NIce also to see RNZAF P-3 Orion NZ4203 in its grey/white scheme - I worked on this aircraft during my engineering apprenticeship.
The Vikings are one of the best display teams i've ever seen. A pure display of speed, noise and power. I saw them several times at Mildenhall and they were regulars at the Leicester Airshow as well.

Absolutely! I saw them a few times including at Fairford 1985 when at one stage during the display I nearly jumped out of my skin. Unfortunately the display at St Mawgan a few weeks later was thwarted by bad weather.
