Yeah we never did find any with nose cones on. Gathered they were made I plastic too.
We also found a good few 2" mortar tails. And I remember finding some nice bits of fools gold
I remember finding a lump fools gold ( Iron Pyrite ) about the size of a truck wheel , thought it would look good on the camp . Wot a muppet didn`t relise that it was the salt water that kept it from breaking down. 3 wks later it was just a pile of .... detoriated into nothing . We had to get the JCB to fetch it back it weighed that much . lol
The place you mentioned was the Northern boundary . There used to be 2 portakabins one on top of the other . The camp road which led too quad 1 has also gone over . One of my last details before I left was to dig ditches to stop vehicular intrusion onto the site !!

Yeah if i remember a concrete base was left, you had to hop over a gate into farmers field & walk along the cliff top around the field then onto the range.

There are two cowden beaches ,Summer Beach, & Winter Beach . Winter is when all the sand is stripped away and all you have is a boulder clay . Summer Beach is obviously when the sand is re deposited back on top of the clay up to a depth 7-8mtrs . Winter is best for beach combing . Oooooops shouldn`t have put that !!!
