The yellow band means theyre inert isnt it.

If I remember it's a front weighed practice bomb. That when the nose strikes ground it pushes the firing pin into a shotgun size cartridge that emits smoke through the hollow pipe to the tail.

No high explosive at all. Nothing more than a striker activated smoke grenade.

Same for the plaggys. Tho they used the force of hitting the ground to cause the cartridge to strike the fixed pin. Again. Shotgun sized smoke cartridge. Noooo HE

Hey come on you two, get back on track.

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

(Its ok norwichpaul i'm learning here.)

Not at all BDU, what sort of experimental stuff was dropped there then? Never saw anything out of the ordinary. I think everything we saw had red bands around it and all painted blue denoting practice? (smoke & flash)

Orrrr!

What were the longer blue fibre glass ones, they were a lot longer than the flash n smoke ones i'd say they were about 2.5-3ft long.

Then I think it will be a slow learning process needing to start at the beginning (but not here) - too many incorrect assumptions!
