6 RCAF Bomber Group (organisation, airfields, squadrons, aircarft, and their 70 crashes in Belgium (location, crew, evasion lines, cemeteries, PoW Camps, etc...). Busy for a couple of years !!!!!!

Belgium bought 132 type F or FR Mk.XIVe. Serial SG-1 to SG-132 (SG for Spitfire Griffon).
No idea if they were crated before delivery from the UK ?
Looks like they were delivered from Liverpool ?
I would like to have their individual "record cards" but where to go... ?
Aircraft delivered between April 1947 and July 1949.
Last one wfu/soc end of 1954.
Today :
- 3 are on static display : one in France and 2 in Belgium.
- 2 are still airworthy.
Other foreign operators for the XIV were Thailand and India
No idea if they were crated before delivery from the UK ?

Yes, I understand but since you mentioned the RTAF I thought that I would show their exhibit. They have a good museum with a bewildering assortment of aircraft types,

The film "first of the few" was on the other day. Not many people realise that there were two Spitfires. The first was Supermarines design for the contest for a new fighter in the early thirties, the winner of which was the Gladiator.

Came up the north east coast along with it's Pilatus PC-12 support aircraft and had to divert into Newcastle Airport but as I type it's off again and heading out over the Firth of Forth headed for Lossiemouth but not sure if they will get there tonight now ?

I saw a documentary on PBS the other day about the Spitfire. Apparently Mitchell wanted to call it the Scarab. So thats Shrew Shrike and npw Scarab that were considered, any other?
