I have been seeing quite a few of those benches over the last year or so.


Yes indeed and there is a WW2 version as well, see my post on the memorial at Holton le Clay

The figure at the Barton on Humber memorial is called "Tin Tommy"

This new (2002)memorial in Dudley appears not to be a replacement but a completely new one

I took these 24-11-17 at Collingwood corner, Salisbury road (A354) Nr Pimperne, Dorset.

Brierly Hill in the Black country allready has a traditional memorial which i noticed from a bus as i left.This monument is obviously modern there was a small wooded plynth which might have had a plaque on but was now bare ,and as the only other message was that on the cross the circumstances and funding for its erection must remain obscure

This is the WW1 memorial in the churchyard of St Peter's church in Holton le Clay in North Lincolnshire


Inside the church is the Roll of Honour for the village which includes two men who were in the army, then the RFC followed by the RAF

This stump of what i presume was a cross is in Dudlets Town Centre . i waved. However there is a new memorial nearby as i have previously posted not knowing of this one.

This small monument is in the grave yard of a church no longer there and is easily missed it is at Netherton in the Black country.

Kirton in Lindsey, Lincolnshire, War Memorial



The Eagle Squadron memorial is in the same compound, see separate post
and there is an info board for RAF Kirton in Lindsey next to it
