I took these today while waiting at traffic lights down Regents Street, London. This is around the Cavendish Place area.

The Dead got memorials, The living got time.

This may be a roadside shrine it bears no inscription or dedication, however the remains of poppys suggest that it is considered as such on remembrance day.It is located on the main road of the Worcestershire village of Hampton lovett.

William ~ my guess would be it could relate to the Italian POW camp ( Number 54 ) as the carving appears to me as Southern European Catholic ( only a stab in the dark on my part open to correction )

This memorial is in the Graveyard of Coventrys old Cathedral and is not limited to Coventrys "Blitz"casualtys or any particular war.More than a memorial it is a reminder.

The Village of Clent is at the start of The Clent hills in Worcestershire ,the positioning of the memorial cross in St leonards Churchyard is particularly outstanding in the landscape as good monuments should be.

Hednesford in Staffordshire is well known for its R.A.F.camp and Collieries,Its Great war memorial is exemplary both in its execution and is maintenance. Some Might say that Northern Ireland was not a war but it would be a poor hearted person who could deny the right for those killed in service in a campaign not to be commemorated alongside other servicemen killed in conflict.

The casualtys are put in place by the nearby memorial for those killed in the Cannock coal pits every brick of which is individually recorded with the name and pit of a person "known"to have been killed.it seems a good point to mention the Bevin boys many of whom worked the Cannock pits and can be easily forgotten.
