Welcome to the forum SNAFU. I used to crawl over Biggin Hill in the late 60s and early 70s. A bit busier though as it was usually airshow days. Like you I didn't have a camera in the early days. Also I had no idea of the importance of some of the buildings as on Battle of Britain Days you could alomost roam freely around the RAF camp.
Used to love the Hunters "shooting up" ground targets. Never realised until later it was recorded gun fire and flash bangs :(

Welcome to the forum.

I think you may have some fellow fire appliance enthusiasts on this forum.

I was offered tickets to the very first recording of Father Ted but as I didn't like the sound of it I turned them down!

Father Ted is excellent viewing , although i can be more like Father Jack after a few beers!!

Hello there, FT - welcome to the madhouse! Seeing as you hail from Elmdon, I see that the airport's fleet of Ford D Series 4x4 snow plough/Sicard prime movers is being sold through the classic commercial magazines. There was one at the Cheffins vintage sale at Sutton last Saturday. Have they all gone now?

Hi Peter

Yes it was me who wrote the Treligga/Davidstow feature in Airfield Review! The main tower at Treligga is still there, though now modified into a unique holiday let by the local famer. Rear stairs now enclosed, windows installed etc. I need to get down the hill and have a good look. The accomodation huts and equipment sheds, concrete marker bunker etc. are still there. So will update in due course.

Hi Chris

My kids used to collect brass 20mm shell cases to sell for scrap-must be 20 years ago. Plenty still left i shouldn't wonder.

There were floating targets in the bay off Port Quin (also known as Port Isaac Bay range). There is still a quadrant tower on the cliffs between Port isaac and Port Quin.

I drove past the Ford units yesterday , I think there are 4 or 5 parked up still.

The sign about taxying bombers is a new one on me! Let me know exactly where it is and I will have a look.....you learn something new every day.
I thought I knew where all the vintage parts of the airfield were , obviously not
