hi my name is paul i am very interested in old airfields especially bomber command airfields of the last war i have visited many airfields and recently was at east moor i have been to many 6 group airfields and am willing to share information and photographs with all as i believe these sites are a very important part of our national heritage and history i live 10 miles outside liverpool and travel into yorkshire and other areas with my wife as we caravan as a hobby so access to thes sites are quite easy we also recently visited the bomb dump at tholthorpe and got photographs of the one remaining fusing shed intact and in situ glad i found this site and looking forward to sharing information
unfortunatly not but one fusing shed remains in situ and the base of another opposite this quite clearly shows the layout and opperation of the bomb dump and the supply and fusing of the individual loads how the tractors and bomb trailors enterd the sheds and were fused up then deliverd to the individual aircraft.
very efficient when you look at it you get a great view of this from google earth the dump is behind the farm on the airfield i visit tholthorpe regulary it also has a great pub in the village as a bonus
Well where do I start, Im martin and have an interest in airfields more of whats in them tho HAHA I spent some time at Oakington and that is how I found this site! so here I am LOL
American cars, I love 'em especially the old un's between the 193os to the 60s. Saw two awaiting restoration in Newbury yesterday. Both late 1950s a pontiac and Chevvy I was told. Welcome to this forum.
Welcome Martin. You'll like it here - we're all slightly nuts.
American cars - Oh yes! Love them!...As a kid(1950s) - we lived in Singapore (old man was civvy with the Army)...my best friend was son of US Consul- they had a two tone pale blue Ford Customline- sheer magic to ride in when compared with the old man's Ford Prefect!
