The 'Introduce yourself' Thread

Just as a quick introduction, I'm currently studying History at Kent University in Canterbury with my dissertation centred around WW2 commemoration. I've just recently started research into Memorials dedicated to those who died in Aircraft crashes during the war. This forum has given me so much help in understanding the amount of memorials there are and all the different forms they have taken. I should at some point start a thread about how people (you) feel about these types of memorials and so if you see that post dont hesitate to come and tell me your thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

Hi, thought it was about time I joined, having been directed to AiX site so many time and also being a member of ARG for a while now. My interest in military history is wide, from land, sea and air. My interest with airfields goes back many years aswell as my collection of books and to the annoyance of my wife, my other interest is old maps, which I use when researching an airfield/s. Can i say what an excellent site this and how interesting it is. Steve.

Hi folks and thanks for letting me join,

I attended school at Wethersfield from 1963-67 (I was 7-10 years old) - The teachers were Mrs. Gahagan and a Miss Eisenberg . My step-dad Jimmy Snare was stationed there (he passed away a few years back). We lived in Great Dunmow during that period. I don't remember too much about the base, other than the gym, theatre, barracks and control tower - oh and cant ever forget the shriek of F100s. I know that my dad played football (soccer) for the base team. Just to explain the name above - I was born in Montreal and since 1968 since Jimmy was sent to Vietnam and subsequent divorce from my mum, I have lived in Scotland (she is Scottish) - hence, The Scotmoose!
