Okay, case closed for the moment. We will proceed with the preparations . BUT if any of you have good suggestions, we will glad to recieve them. In the meantime we will examine the forum for new spots. Remember, we as Dutchmen, are not that witty as you are on this forum. (anybody speak Dutch around here?)

Well spotted Sir,
I can walk up the road and see the short narrow runway, I save my pennies and go out, about once a year using that runway (I do have to have a real pilot with me though)

I live here because Dad was posted to RAF Manston.

Just realised I didn't introduce myself when I joined the forum. I'm Martin, an early-retired 'blue light' radio comms engineer with a recent interest in the history of airfields - and a somewhat longer interest in WW2 radio eqpt. Dad was a pilot with the RAF and RCAF and had a life-long interest in aviation, which I'm sure is where it all started. My eldest son has a PPL and as I pretend to navigate for him it allows me to take some aerial airfield photos from time to time... Home is on the outskirts of Birmingham which gives me easiest access to airfields in Staffordshire and Shrophire. Look forward to contributing what I can.

A belated welcome then Martin!

Really enjoy looking at your posts, keep them coming! I did wonder if you had a PPL or not with all your aerial photos

Cheers

Richard

I appreciate all the information.

I found some photos he had. A couple of them seem to be of the downed ME 262's that they were working on. If anyone might be interested in copies ( I don't know how to post them on computers) of any of these, ( and I also have a manual , in German, of one of these planes) I would be happy to make copies and send them to you. Contact me via e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . I will be glad to share what I have.

Hello there,

I came across AIX through a photo request from REF so I thought I'd join up as apart from my aviation photography I'm very interested in our aviation history and I'm quite lucky living in Shropshire as there's a few bases on the doorstep.

Cheers
Tim
