Hello all. My name is tim and i reside in wetherby. I came across the site purely by accident whilst searching for information on a model i am intending to do. Loads of memories came flooding back from my old RAF days. Well done guys for putting a great site together.

Any photographs of airfields and/or RAF vehicles or equipment to share?

The light blue colour is post-war and used to indicate Practice rounds on the larger calibre ammunition projectiles. I am assuming that the 'find' was a 50 calibre projectile.

hallo peeps!. Am Stephen Murray ( stevie or weegie to friends ) currently residing in South Queensferry not far from the old Port Edgar naval base. Originally from Glasgow and served with 603 squadron in Edinburgh but now in process of re-enlisting with 612 at Leuchars. Avid interest in aviation particularly WW2 but have a fear of flying!. Also worked at East Fortune Museum for a while.

Like I said it had a silver tip but I can remember it being very corroded blue and I was about 7 yrs old . It was bigger than 303 , what size difference is 50 cal to 20mm ? I intend to go back to said field with a metal detector . ( I'm not holding my breath though because when I found the bullet was 39 yrs ago ).
