Hello there! Watton…Fersfield…Eye…Horham…Metfield….I cycled all over during the 80s and early 90s! I hope to again some day! Currently in Sheffield. By the way, I posted something (newspaper article) on the general discussion board about a meeting at Horham on 26th February. It may be of interest to you, if you don't already know about it.

I have been too busy exploring the site to post this before but here goes now.
I am interested in all aspects of aviation history but especially that of Wing airfield which is where my father served during the war. I grew up in a village between two airfields, Boxted and Wormingford in Essex, and as my father was in the RAF, and both before the war and afterwards, in the Royal Observer Corps, aircraft and airfields played a large part in my life. I regularly visited the Farnborough Air Show and am one of the survivors, albeit by virtually inches, of the crash of the DH 110. Even that hasn't put me off airfields!

Lots of thank yous to those who have welcomed me to the site already, I am sure I shall find much to interest me.

Pauline.

Hello James,

I've done Milfield several times (last visit being Boxing Day 2011) - theres a few pics on this Forum somewhere, and a lot more on my Flickr page ( www.flickr.com/photos/fozstar/sets ) if you're interested.
The "money shot" are the instructional buildings on Technical Site, but I'm told the woman who has the land there would NOT be susceptible to requests for a visit!

Incidentally, I've checked out the Gullet Plantation, and I'm pretty sure there are no traces of anything left there...

Thanks Foz77, I think that the bomb store area was levelled and reclaimed very soon after the airfield was elinquushed.
