Whilst the chance of complete aircraft being buried on or near UK airfields is somewhat slim, there have been a number of aeroengines & aircraft parts, recovered in the past few years, with digs planned for at more locations. the nearest to a complete aircraft, was the Spitfire that was dug out of Kenly/Kemble ?. Large numbers of parts have also been recovered from dump sites such as Kemble etc.

Unfortunatly not! U-boats, landing craft, liners, merchant ships and even tanks but no aircraft. So little tends to remain and it can be hard enough to locate 1000's of tons of ship at times! Although there were always several rumours floating around of aircraft just waiting to be found........
Used to post some time ago, but I forget my login etc... Anyway, I finally joined The Airfield Research Group, so I thought it would be an appropriate time to re-join the forum.
About me, I am an Ex RAF Air Traffic Controller and a large poster on RAF Binbrook, I was there until the end and beyond... The Sergeant's Mess was my home, before the station started running down and I ended up in what became The Combined Mess, aka The Officer's Mess, which sadly is now just rubble! Along with ATC.
If anyone needs help with all things Air Traffic related, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

Indeed it is a real poster, first produced around 1981 ish, designed by a female ATC believe it or not. Just ask any ATC or AATC and they should be familiar with it. Go to RAFbinbrook.co.uk and look for my postings within the Sergeants Mess and you will find said poster attached to my room in the Sgt's Mess.
Welcome to the forum. I have had a good service from AFHRA at Maxwell AFB, luckily the bits I was after came on CD. Trouble was I had to send three ten dollar bills in the post. A lot cheaper than writing a cheque or money transfer from the UK.

have passed it many times and wondered what the history of it is.
I know it us being developed with housing now but I am interested in
the operational history it seems an odd place to put an airfield about 200 feet
above the Trent compared to all the airfields in flat Lincolnshire
