Blimey kebecker, that's going back a bit. No, I wasn't thinking of the Beiderbecke Affair but I can see the connection. Obviously there are a couple of fans on the forum - enough to prompt me to watch again. From memory I think I might enjoy. Hope you had a good Christmas,
Hi, i'm looking into the history of the field we have just bought, it was originally i'm told a site for barrage balloons, it is known locally as the tankramps fields, classed as hopwood/wythall, was aslo used to house localls in the barracks after the war, i would love some info on it, where the buildings were ect,
I do believe they are mostly still there only were buried on site? the tank ramps are still mainly there and there are other little bits we're finding too, when you look hard, you can feel the history of the place, any info gratefully recieved x
Hello Berni,
Welcome to the forum. Can you post a link via one of the sattelite map websites like Flashearth, or google earth to show us your field?
It may well be possible to make out the locations of the buildings by way of marks in the topsoil or grass.
Hi everyone. Just joined. Site looks very well organised.
Does anyone have any information about the Woodvale airfield bombing decoy know as Q164A? It was situated a couple of miles to the east of Woodvale airfield on Downholland Moss, West Lancs. Visited the control building yesterday, still largely intact but as you would imagine in a very dilapidated state. I'd like to know where the actual dummy flarepath was situated, would be great if anyone could tell me the location any original plans or photos of the site. Many thanks.
