Welcome to AiX Paul F.

Did you find any remains, even small, at Chailey and Deanland?

Hi REF,

Yes I know you are from the area originally, as we once exchanged messages on the Flypast forum in the past, yours was one fo the "familiar" usernames I recognised. I drive past the Blackboys PH everyday.

Petertheeater - Do you mean evidence fo the airfields themselves, or bits and pieces of aircraft etc?
Chailey and Deanland both have some traces of the airfields left, the fuel pump-house at Chailey still stands just along the road form Bower Farm farmhouse, though the pumphouse is now completely covered by brambles/weeds, and at least one of the concrete refueling hardstandings seems to exist at Deanland, about 1/4mile south of the Caravan park that uses (used?) soem of the old concrete hardstandings as bases for its buildings/'vans.

Cheers guys (and gals?) and thanks for the welcome.
Paul F

My father has photo's, which he jealously guards, most are of the family or locations outside the bases, but there are definetly a few with the bases in them. He wasn't really involved with the aircraft side of things-he was a drill instructor for a long while then was attached to the station HQ's in admin. I'll see what I can do, but he's getting on a bit now and is hard to persuade. Regards.
