My home is in the west of Scotland, but I work full time in the Czech Republic, so I fly quite a lot (no, I don't go home for lunch each day ). Whilst I enjoy flying, I have come to detest airports and the whole rigmarole that surrounds using them. The golden days of flight are well behind us, but I enjoy the nostalgia that comes with this site.

The Czech Republic is awash with airports and airfields of all shapes and sizes, ranging from "crop duster" grass strips on farms to the modern Prague international. The attitude to photography is much more relaxed here than in the UK, where I am now hesitant to take a photo at any airport.

I am not an aviation enthusiast as such, but enjoy photography and contribute regularly to the geograph uk website where I have a few aerial photos of airfields past and present around the UK, taken from commercial flights. The geograph site is a good source of geo-located photos of all subjects, including aviation.

Welcome ljstuder, if you need help in locating WW2 airfield sites near you, AiX is the place to get the information.

Welcome to AiX Tam and thanks for your input. Personally, when researching sites, I find Geograph a useful source of pictorial information since people often take photographs of WW2 relics and post them up with queries.

We should welcome aerial photographs of Scotland's WW2 airfields since we have only a few contributors based north of the border.
