The airfields located in my area are Marston Moor, Rufforth,Melbourne, RIccall,Breighton,Catfoss,Acaster Malbis,Burn(Halifax VC Cyril Barton) East Moor,Wombleton,Skipton on Swale, Dalton,York,Elvington,Croft,Dishforth,Carnaby,Cottam,Sherburn,Tholthorpe

Hi Folks, My name is Al Gray, ex RAF, joined as a Flight Line Mechanic, then an Airframe Fitter. Worked on Jaguars, Nimrods, Phantom F4J-UK,Andovers, Wessex, Pumas, Hercules, Merlins. Have general interest in Military Aviation. Gents having read a lot of the threads on this Forum I have come to the conclusion I know nothing.

most certainly true,ive photgraphed most of them many tears ago and lots have undergone big changes ie demolition of buildings, runways torn up etc, its sad to say many have no memorials , ivespoken to a few ex aircrew who served on these "White Rose Bases and got taped memories etc, it was a big building programme "the Expansion Period"which resulted im the creation of these airfields ,they began construction of a new airfield every eight days busy times eh

Hi all

Stumbled across the site while doing some research for modeling. And what a craking forum it is! In to all things aircraft related also have a bit of thing for airfield crash trucks.

I also have an interest in cold war military buildings.
