Welcome to AiX Graham. The Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) had a very short life with every structures and little survives today. It is nice to see that Friston is still grassland. You are familiar with Horne ALG and Deanland ALG too is just 8 miles north of Friston.

Thanks chaps, would anyone be interested if I took some of the bomb dump then, as it's not often open to the public (except the footpath) and we have an event that includes driving in there again on last weekend in June for the West Suffolk Country Fair?

Okay, well we are back there over the last weekend in June, so I'll take the camera with me when I go over to check the 'greenlane' course. The fusing buildings are still intact and there are heaps of revetments where the bombs were stored. We did start driving over a couple of them as part of the course (with the blessing of the landowner, I might add) but once I realised what it was we were driving over I stopped all play and reinstated the two areas. They have been there for years, so it's not right that we trash any part of the history there or anywhere.
