There was some very rare gems parked up in the static at the Cosford Airshow a couple of weeks ago....Certainly wont be seeing these parked up outside in the static parks at any other airshows anywhere -

Always in my mind in 1956 was the description of the FD2 prepared for it's record breaking speed run as being painted 'polychromatic purple'. Metalflake finishes are 'Old hat ' now but innovative then.
They would have been a great subject for a drone shot from about 20ft looking down at 30º. From the ground you miss most of the aircraft.
Nice to see them out rather than crammed in a hangar.

A strange sounding helicopter flew over this afternoon and judging by the four castors hanging below it was a Westland Wasp! Not seen one of those for a few decades.
This was later followed by a Rapide and a Chipmunk which we see quite often. I also thought I heard an Airship but it was a neighbour was testing his new lawnmower on his patio (no grass cutting sound).
